About Extract Pages

Extract Pages lets you pull selected pages out of a multi-page PDF and combine them into a single new document. Unlike Split PDF — which is range-based and produces multiple files — Extract Pages gives you a visual page picker so you can hand-select non-contiguous pages (say, pages 3, 7, and 12) and bundle them into one clean output.

Every page is extracted locally in your browser using pdf-lib. The selected pages keep their original quality, fonts, hyperlinks, and bookmarks — no re-rendering, no quality loss. Your source PDF never leaves your device.

Useful when you need to share a subset of a long report, build a custom handout from a textbook, or preserve only the pages you actually care about from a large scanned document.

How it works

  1. Drop your PDFUpload a single multi-page PDF. The tool reads the page count and shows a visual thumbnail picker.
  2. Select the pages you wantClick the pages to include. You can pick any combination — contiguous ranges, scattered single pages, or every other page.
  3. Download the combined PDFA new PDF containing only your selected pages — in the order you picked them — is downloaded directly to your device.

When to use Extract Pages

Sharing only the relevant chapter from a long report
You have a 200-page company report but a colleague only needs chapter 4. Pick the 12 pages and send a focused PDF instead of the full document.
Building a study packet from a textbook
Pull the key example pages, exercise sections, and answer keys from a textbook PDF into one compact handout — without sending the whole copyrighted file around.
Cleaning up scanned documents
A 30-page scan that includes blank separator pages and accidental duplicates becomes a tidy 18-page PDF when you pick only the pages with content.
Submitting specific pages of a contract for review
Lawyers and reviewers often need to see only the signature pages, the riders, or the schedule — not the whole 80-page master agreement. Extract just what's needed.

Frequently asked questions

How is Extract Pages different from Split PDF?
Split PDF works by ranges or intervals and produces multiple output files. Extract Pages gives you a visual page-by-page picker and produces a single combined PDF. Same engine — different UI for different tasks.
Will the order of pages match my selection order?
The selected pages appear in the new PDF in the order you clicked them. So selecting page 12, then page 3, then page 7 produces an output where page 12 comes first.
Are the extracted pages re-rendered or compressed?
No. The pages are copied directly from the source PDF — fonts, vector graphics, embedded images, and page quality are preserved exactly. Output pages are byte-identical to the originals.
Does my file get uploaded anywhere?
No. The entire process runs in your browser using pdf-lib. The PDF you drop in never travels over the network — verify it yourself in your browser’s Network tab.
Can I extract pages from an encrypted PDF?
You'll need to unlock it first using the Unlock PDF tool (with the password). Once unlocked, the page picker works normally on the unencrypted copy.
