Drag boxes over anything sensitive. Applying permanently removes the content underneath — redacted pages are rebuilt as flat images, so there is no hidden text to copy out. Your document never leaves your browser.

About Redact PDF

Redact PDF keeps the complete file workflow inside this browser tab. Your selected file, its name, contents, settings, and generated output are not sent to AntiUpload or a cloud conversion service. Ads and aggregate traffic analytics stay outside the processing boundary and receive no file object or working buffer.

Redact PDF is built for permanent removal, not a black rectangle placed over live text. Draw boxes directly on rendered pages, search for a name or phrase, or mark suggested sensitive-data patterns such as email addresses and phone numbers. Every proposed box remains visible and removable so you can review it before changing the file.

Pages containing redactions are rebuilt as flattened page images with the black areas burned in, which removes the underlying text and objects. Unmarked pages retain their original selectable content. An optional local OCR pass can restore searchability for the remaining visible words on redacted pages, and a final safety check stops the download if marked searchable text is still found.

How it works

  1. Open and inspect the PDFEach page renders locally in the browser so you can see exactly where sensitive content appears.
  2. Mark everything to removeDrag redaction boxes, search for an exact term, or use sensitive-data suggestions. Review and remove false positives before applying.
  3. Choose remaining-text behaviorOptionally re-recognize the visible words on redacted pages so the safe content remains searchable after those pages are flattened.
  4. Apply and verifyAntiUpload rebuilds affected pages, checks the generated PDF, and blocks the result if tracked text still appears in the output text layer.

When to use Redact PDF

Share a contract without personal details
Remove names, addresses, signatures, account numbers, or negotiated terms before sending a document outside your organization.
Prepare records for a public request
Review many pages visually, use pattern suggestions to find common identifiers, and keep an audit report of the redaction pass.
Publish evidence or screenshots safely
Flatten marked areas so copying text, hiding annotations, or opening the PDF in another editor cannot reveal what was covered.

Frequently asked questions

Are redacted documents uploaded?
No. Rendering, search, flattening, optional OCR, and output verification all run on your device. Input files are read from browser memory and the output is created locally for your download. AntiUpload does not send file bytes, names, sizes, page counts, contents, passwords, or generated outputs through analytics or advertising requests.
Is drawing a black box enough to redact a PDF?
Usually not. A normal annotation can leave text underneath. AntiUpload rebuilds affected pages as flattened images with the boxes burned in so the covered content is no longer present as selectable PDF text.
Can the tool find sensitive information automatically?
It can suggest matches for supported patterns and mark exact search terms, but you must review every page and box. Scanned pages without a text layer still require visual review or manual boxes.
Will unredacted pages lose text quality?
No. Only pages with redaction boxes are rebuilt. Unmarked pages are copied through and keep their original selectable text and vector content.
